LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A woman was found dead in a Long Beach alley Wednesday morning, her body riddled with gunshot wounds, police say.

The discovery was made near Orange Avenue and East 21st Street, according to Long Beach police.

Officers were responding to a report of shots fired in the area around 1 a.m. when they found the woman, whose torso was pierced with gunshot wounds.

“The original calling party said that they heard gunshots about 12 midnight but did not call the police at that time,” Sgt. Brad Johnson said. “Later when they found the body located in the alley, that’s when they called us.”

The woman was later identified as Alicia Faith Todd, 21, of Signal Hill.

Police do not yet have a motive or suspect.

Another shooting in Long Beach on Monday took the life of 37-year-old Douglas Wilson. Police say he was also shot in the torso. However, they haven’t yet said if the two incidents are related.

Fernando Peterson, who lives near the alley where the woman was found, says he fears for the safety of his young family.

“It is kind of scary, things like that, in your own neighborhood too. I heard it was a girl as well, and it was a young girl, so that’s not good,” Peterson said.

“I’m always concerned about my little one and his well-being. We like to walk around here and things could have been happening while we’re out and about,” he said.

Authorities ask that anyone who has any information about the incidents contact Long Beach police.
